Review: Stitch Fix #1
It took me a good eight months from the time I first heard about Stitch Fix to jump on the bandwagon. A few of my fashionista friends had such good luck with the fashion retailer that I knew that it was something I had to try. So, to celebrate my 32nd birthday this year, I finally did it. I signed up for my first Stitch Fix. On Saturday it arrived on my doorstep and I was fabulously giddy to try everything on (just ask my husband). Before I hop into a little review on my first stitch, let me tell you a bit about what it is. Stitch Fix is an online retailer that pairs you with a stylist. After a questionnaire (and in my case, sharing my Pinterest style board), you are paired with a stylist who chooses five item to send to you. The cost is just $20, which goes towards any items you decide to keep. If you keep all five of the items, you'll receive a 25% discount. Any items you don't want to keep, you send back absolutely free.
ONE Top: Market & Spuce "Alessandra Striped & Colorblocked Blouse" - I absolutely love this blouse. I'm a sucker for all things color blocked, and this was no exception. The material is light and airy, and I love love love the pop of color against the white and black stripes. Bonus? The back was completely navy. Status: KEPT
Bottoms: Just Black "Adorra Skinny Jean" - I really liked this pair of jeans, although the rise was a too low for me and it sagged a little bit around the knees. That said, the elastic in the denim made these jeans pretty comfy. Status: RETURNED (with hope they send another pair with a different rise next time).
TWO Top: Honey Punch "Faris Dotted Chevron Stripe Blouse" - First, let me tell you that I used to be obsessed with chevron. Fast forward 5 years and a million zig zag patterns later, and I'm totally over the once beloved pattern. Aside from that, the fit was nice and I like where the the sleeves fall. However, I wasn't a huge fan of the polyester fabric and the over all feel was a bit too matronly for my style. Status: RETURNED
Bottoms: Just Black "Adorra Skinny Jean" - See ONE
Three Accessory: Bancroft "Leighton Metal Bauble Necklace" - This necklace was pretty, but not really my style. That said, I'm not sure if I have a style in jewelry since I don't tend to wear a lot of it. Status: RETURNED
Cardigan: Laila Jayde "Malaga Drape Cardigan" - This cardigan was really, really nice. It was warm and comfortable. Plus, it's grey and black - too of my most used colors in my wardrobe. That said, I just bought two or three new cardigans so I thought another basic one would be overkill. Status: RETURNED
The score? I just kept one item, the "Alessandra Striped & Colorblocked Blouse." I almost kept the jeans too, but the fit just wasn't right and could justify spending nearly $90 on a pair of jeans that didn't fit perfectly.
For a first go around, I'd say my stylist, Heidi, did a pretty awesome job. From what I understand, the more you Stitch Fixes you receive and the more thorough your feedback, the better your next fix. I had originally planned to get my stitch fixes quarterly, but I'm thinking I'll be changing it to once a month. This was far too fun.
Did I mention that they also have a referral program? For every person who you refer and gets their first stitch sent to them, you get a $25 bonus. So, if you're interested in Stitch Fix, click this link and give it a try :)
